Back by popular demand – Chicago’s longest running Broadway musical comes home for a limited engagement. Entertainment Weekly calls Wicked “the best musical of the decade.” When it began in Chicago in 2005, it broke box office records and sold out in record time. Winner of 26 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony® Awards, Wicked is Broadway’s biggest blockbuster, a cultural phenomenon and was just named the “defining musical of the decade” by the New York Times.
Prior to the performance we will dine at Lawry’s The Prime Rib. Your lunch will include Lawry’s salad, entrée, bread and butter, dessert, coffee, tea or iced tea. Entrée choices are; Prime Rib Plate, Pan-fried Salmon Filet or boneless Chicken Breast with Artichokes and Mushrooms. Please make your entrée selection with your reservation.
After lunch we are off to the Cadillac Palace Theatre for our reserved seats. The musical Wicked works because it is a story that adults can take seriously. Rex Reed says, “Wicked is an irresistible extravaganza of music, magic, artistry and enchantment.” Long before that girl from Kansas arrived in Munchkinland, two girls met in the land of Oz. One born with emerald green skin is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda The Good Witch makes for the most spellbinding and satisfying musical in a long time. Don’t miss your chance to see this fabulous musical as we learn the tale of these two witches! Following the performance we will take a driving tour of the beautiful Christmas lights before leaving downtown Chicago. |
