Daily Itinerary:
Day 1
The excitement builds as we relax and enjoy the scenery of the beautiful Fall colors roll by as we travel North. Our destination is the magnificent Wisconsin Dells. We will have lunch at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant where you will be given a gift card to purchase lunch or shop. This afternoon we embark on a tour of the Upper Dells. The Upper Dells feature some of the areas most striking sandstone cliffs. Along the scenic route, you will see some of the tallest rock formations of the region such as Steamboat Rock and Black Hawk’s Profile. The boat also stops at two historic shorelandings — Witches Gulch, where you can explore mysterious passageways, and Stand Rock, the area’s world-famous trademark sculpted by the forces of nature. Watch in amazement as the specially trained jumping dogs leap the five-foot chasm from the main cliff to the rock ledge. We then check into our lodging for the night at the Wintergreen Resort, where the comforts of a country inn meet the elegance of a contemporary resort. You will have time to rest and freshen up before we enjoy a traditional Scandinavian dinner and entertainment at Thunder Valley Inn. The thrasher-style dinner will include slow-cooked beef pot roast, hand-peeled mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, Ole's sauteed onions, vegetables, fresh salad from the garden, Mom's homemade whole grain bread with fresh strawberry-rhubarb jam, and a scrumptious homemade dessert. After diner we will be entertained with storytelling, singing, fiddling, accordion and Ole and Lena Jokes will fill the air!

Our first stop is at Wetherby Cranberry Company to tour their operations. We will see whatever work is being done in the marsh today. This will be an informative session on the history of cranberries and how they are grown and harvested. You will also be able to purchase fresh cranberries for use in preparing treats for the upcoming holidays. Lunch will be at Burnstad’s European Restaurant. You will have your choice of entrée and dessert. After lunch you will have time to visit the shops in their European Market before we head home with wonderful memories of this exciting journey of discovery.
