Rich in tradition. Rich in History. Join us as we discover there is more to South Bend than the mystique of Notre Dame and its storied football program. Our day begins with your “Campus Tour” admission to three historical treasures. You may spend as much time as you want in each of these; The Studebaker National Museum, The Northern Indiana Center for History, or the Oliver Mansion, Copshaholm. The Studebaker Museum features a display of the carriage that took President Lincoln took to Ford’s Theater. It also has displays of Studebaker wagons and automobiles that were produced in South Bend. The Northern Indiana Center for History has a gallery that chronicles local history, a gallery of Notre Dame history, plus compelling exhibitions, including a 1918 Milburn electric car. Copshaholm is a 38 room Romanesque Queen Anne house built for J. D. Oliver, President of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works.
Fine dining at Tippecanoe Place is a tradition that was begun over 100 years ago by the mansion’s original owners, the Studebakers. This landmark inspires reminiscence of the charm and grace of yesteryear. Casual dining in an elegant atmosphere awaits as you have your choice of entrée: Charbroiled Chicken Breast or Filet Medallions. Please make your entrée selection with your reservation.
This afternoon we have a delicious, wonderful finish to the day – a tour of the South Bend Chocolate Company. The tour will tell the history of chocolate from the Aztecs until now. The most interesting part of the tour is watching how the chocolate is made and how it is mixed together with other ingredients to create different tastes. The best part of the tour is the sampling. You will be given a discount coupon for shopping after the tour. |
